Pre-Export Checklist
Before exporting, perform one final check over your contribution:- All lighting polygon positions are accurate to your scenery
- Every polygon is named with the correct BARS ID
- Remove areas cover all default scenery lights that BARS will replace
- No duplicate or missing polygons
Taking the time to verify your work before exporting will save time during the review process. Contributions with incorrect BARS IDs or missing remove areas will be rejected.
Exporting Your Contribution
Export your scenery contribution as an XML file from the simulator.Detailed instructions for exporting the contribution XML from MSFS developer mode, including file naming conventions and export location, will be added in a future update.
Upload and Test
Once you have your exported XML file, navigate to the test page for your airport on the Contribution Tester. Upload your XML file and click Test XML. After processing, your contribution will be displayed on the XML Preview map. This interactive preview provides a visual representation of what your contribution will look like in the simulator, giving you a clear opportunity to identify and fix any issues before submission.Verify Remove Areas
Within the Map Settings on the XML Preview, you can enable Toggle Remove Areas. This filters the preview to show only your remove areas, allowing you to confirm they cover all relevant default scenery lighting. What to Look For
When reviewing the XML Preview, check for:- Polygon positions - Lighting polygons should align accurately with taxiway and runway positions
- BARS ID accuracy - Verify that the preview shows the correct light types in the correct locations
- Remove area coverage - Ensure all default scenery lights within your contribution area are covered by remove areas
- Missing objects - Confirm you haven’t missed any lighting objects from the airport map
